Rupee appreciates further!

With the Rupee appreciating further the exporters woe's only seems to be getting bigger as the Rupee is eating into their profits.as a result of this resurgent economy, the service sector has now started to look steadily at the European markets as the Euro seems to be the perfect answer to the rising rupee.
The currency dances apart, economic data of the Europe is much more promising than the United states and most of the Indian companies that have thought of diversification and asset and portfolio management are now choosing Europe over the United states!is this a state of things to come,a stronger Euro with all currencies pegged to it?

Rising rupee makes the exporters sweat!

With the rupee rising steadily against the U.S dollar, most of the exporters are already feeling the pinch as they can see their profits evaporating fast as a result of the falling Dollar.it is not only the exporters who are feeling the pinch but also the other companies that provide/export their services to their western counterparts.and since they get paid in the U.S dollar, their profits are also fast drying up.

Naturally the BPO's come under this list.the key question on everyone's mind is that will India follow Japan's route.that is,will the RBI intervene in the market and make sure that the dollar does not weaken any more.such solutions are quite risky and any gains made by such moves is temporary because sooner or later the natural order of the currencies will prevail.Japan knows that they are only postponing the inevitable and hopefully India will realise this as well!

Three Indian banks may soon operate branches in Singapore!

The State Bank of India,Bank of Baroda and the Indian Bank may all be given full licenses to start their operations in Singapore at the earliest.of course, this will entail a reciprocal action on the part of India to do the same to three top Singapore based banks and give them full banking licenses to operate in India as well.
This will only give an additional boost to the already burgeoning trade relations between Singapore and India.it seems that India's look east policy is finally starting to pay dividends.DBS Group, Oversea Chinese Banking Corp and United Overseas Bank are among the banks which have applied for a full banking licence in India.soon we can all apply for an account in these banks provided things go well!

The Indian sensex rallies!

Despite the carnage of last week the Indian shareholders have got their confidence back and as a result of aggressive buying on the part of the traders the sensex has surged 400 points ahead.of course, leading the pack was none other than the SBI stocks which have increased in value due to the news that the recent takeover of a local bank chain has been completed.of course the merger still has to get the go ahead by the RBI and the government of India.when that happens and it will, soon at that, you can expect SBI to surge even further up than it already has.so keep your eyes on this stock.
That said the info tech sector was not that far behind the SBI.more and more laws are being amended to complement the IT sector every single day and this can only contribute more to the companies and the government's coffers.the sensex is all set to take over the 15,000 level and maintain it as the base for further market activities!

India close to FTA with ASEAN!

India is very close to signing up a FTA with ASEAN.and if this goes through then that means that India will be able to flex a much larger trade clout.basically this trade if it gets finalised by sep-dec of this year could herald a new era in the age of the Indian tiger!
Indian exports to ASEAN could reach $22 billion by 2012, if the agreement was signed in November.with such large exports to ASEAN,it is naturally in India's interest that this deal goes through.of course the United States may see this as an evidence if India becoming closer with ASEAN and it may not go well with them.but hey,in the end,if both India and the ASEAN are happy that is all that counts,is it not?

Will a common currency for asia become a reality?

We all know how the Euro was touted to the public before all the numerous problems cropped up.of course if there was a common currency for the whole of asia, lets call it the "rupee" since most of the aisan countries use one forem of rupee or the other, the consequences of that are to put it simply "earth shattering".
for one if that dream became a reality, half of the worlds population will be represented by a single currency.they will be the most powerful economic powerhouse that this world would have ever seen.and lets not forget that the developing naiotns that comprise asia are all registering huge growth figures not just for one year but year after year.such growth has not been seen either by the europeans or the americans.
the U.S would definitely not want this dream to become a reality but unfortunately for the americans most of the asian nations are slowly but surely realising this dream.it will probably start with a free trade area pact,a huge one,the likes of which has not been seen until now.that done, the next logical step will be a merger of currencies,if that happens,in all reality it would be called the "rupee".but lets face reality, the asian nations have all warred amongst themselves until recently and some of them still carry that resentment.most of this hidden resentment is aimed at the japanese.but these nations like china, korea, phillipines etc must realise that the war was over a long time ago anhd it is indeed time to carve out a new future.
that said,it is high time that they started considering a free trade pace seriously.
China and Japan would probably have to start this off.and i am sure that Russia would also want to be considered a part of asia and would want a piece of the pie if for nothing else other than tho thumb nose at the americans!
such policy decisions would take brave initiatives on the part of all the major asian countries namely India,China,Japan,Russia[if it wants to be part of this] and Korea.australia may choose to be out of this but if this dream were to come about and thy choose to do so,they will be the losers.furthermore a policy decision on the part of India,Russia and China is worrying the U.S to no end.that is the establishment althoough an informal "TRIAD".has the next super bloc been formed?
well all of the above are just surmises, guesses and random thoughts.but so often the rumors become a reality.after all "truth is indeed stranger than ficiton",is it not?
the fact remains that India,China,Japan and Russia are determined to establish a uni polar world.to what lengths will they go to accomplish this?

The Dollar Rupee Tango!

Well, the dollar seems to have depreciated against the rupee going all the way from 44.50 rs per dollar to 41.75 rs per dollar.this has of course made the exporters very unhappy but as the reserve abnk of india has pointed out this was necessary for keeping the inflation down.of course the quesiton that is begging to be asked is does this attitude of the RBI really help in keeping the inflation down.of course not.in theorey it may have but lets face it,what sounds good on paper rarely does so in real life.and the dollar is not helping matters either with all the mortage issues rebounding on the U.S economy.either way, things are looking intresting in the indian economy with the current Dollar Rupee tango getting more and more heated by the second.would this impact on the current gold prices is anybody's guess?!?
