Why should we pay Tax?

No one likes the Taxman and paying taxes is not something that one would like to do regularly. The sad truth as to why the common man finds paying tax as pointless is mainly due to the incompetence of the politicians all over the world. As such the people all over the world are losing faith in their collective governments and the society as a whole.
So when a common man is asked to pay his or her tax, it is only natural that he or she will view it with suspicion, if the corresponding development were to take place and if such a development were to benefit the common man then he or she would naturally be much more willing to shell out a part of their pay to the government. The Tax disillusionment is one main reason as to why people are more prone to hide their money and assets than declare it to the tax man. It is not because they do not like the idea of paying tax, although that may be the main reason for some of them, but by and large, they really do not see the point in paying such a tax as they do not see much development taking place. Also the common man thinks that most of his or her tax dollars goes to the politicians pockets, so why should he continue to pay his tax? The year ending[ financial year] is not all that far away, just a few months down the line, and right after that, we have to declare our assets and pay our tax, for good or for worse,Personally I think that this system is not perfect and that there should be a system by which the government should explain as to what they are doing with our tax dollars[ I do not mean the budget], but rather explain to the public as to the spending and the expense bills that every politicians runs up to astronomical amounts. Am I right in asking this?
