A pakistani official claimed today that the country's growth was on the right track and that the recent imbroligo in the country,between one section of the society with the other had no negative impact whatsoever on pakistan's growth.that is indeed a very tall claim.to start off with pakistan's growth was not much to begin with but once musharaff took over whatever little confidence the investors had on pakistan soon disappeared.
Recently the power tussle between the judicary and the executive branches of the government saw that the rest of the investor confidence go bust.currently not many international investors are willing to put money in pakistan especially when the situation remains so fluid.and the sectarian violence along with civil strife in the Baluchistan provinces are REALLY not helping matters.if truth be told,pakistan would do well to keep its house in order first before issuing such statements which i am sorry to say are not fooling that many investors.a safe house would always be a well stocked house.so keep it in order first then the FDI investors would come in droves all by themselves!

China mobile inks 1B$ deal!

Ericsson and China mobile ink together an 1 B$ deal .according to this deal Ericsson will provide all the core and network equipment for GSM coverage.China's President Hu Jintao, on a two-day state visit, and Sweden's Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt joined Ericsson Chief Executive Carl-Henric Svanberg and China Mobile CEO Wang Jianzhou for the signing ceremony in the Swedish capital.
In a few months time we may all be able to enjoy the full benefits of the GSM coverage with additional choices coming into the market very soon.of course the cost per GSM enabled mobile would be a bit high for the person on the street but with such a huge mobile market,the prices would soon tumble as logic holds sway.
Ericsson has already started providing all the necessary equipment.so lets see what happens on the mobile scene in china in a few months time!

The Mexican wave hits "Down under"!

It seems that the mexican wave has indeed hit down under.Cemex,a cement maker has just takenover Rinkler,its australian counterpart.in what seems to be the biggest deal of its kind in mexico,Cemex upped its bid from 11B$ to that of nearly 15B$ including a 1B of Rinklers debt.the first bid was naturally given the heigh-ho by the Rinkler board.and then with Cemex offering a higher second bid,Perpetual, a key institutional investor, said it would accept the revised offer.
now with the shareholders alos backing the deal,it is therefore official that this will make the 15th takeover by Cemex in the building materials sector.that said the very same deal is the biggest that Mexico has seen.also the deal makes Cemex one of the world's top three building materials supplier.but of course the question does remain if Cemex intends only to concentrate on it traditional area like cemetn or if they plan to diversify thier 'areas of intrest'.as such Cemex has gone gobal and its reach is getting far and wide.with the Rinkler's board stepping down for the new directors from Cemex,the cement has truly set in!

At last the World Bank can rest easy with Wolfowitz tendering his resignation in what has been one rollercoaster season of sorts for the bank.this one man has managed to bring scandal and shame to a prestigious institution like the World Bank itself.i honestly think that it will take quite some time for the World Bank to recover its image of integrity.the facts are that the head of the World Bank had behaved in quite an underhanded fashion,very unbecoming for any banker and to make matters worse had tried to cover up and at the same time palm off the mess onto his assistants.his response for 'why he did that' was that no one at the bank had informed him that it was quite unethical to promote one's girlfriend way beyond her qualifications and to get her an enormous hike in salary at the same time.
what did he think 'unthical' meant?and when asked to resign,he refused to do so at first.naturally all the World Bank employees were miffed at the whole scenario and they were threatening to strike,a first of sorts for the Bank itself.finally Wolfowitz has agreed to resign with a 'fair' report on his performance.but i do have to say that going by what he did at the World Bank,any organisation especially banks should steer clear of "the wolf in the sheep's clothing"
